There’s nothing like the magic that can happen on stage. When recording live performances, you only have one chance to capture the event. It’s not like the studio, doing retakes ‘till your satisfied. Expert hands at the cameras are crucial to getting clean live footage. You need a camera crew who can:
* Anticipate the performer’s moves
* Use dynamic zoom to reveal details of interest while getting the big picture
* Do your job so people won’t notice you did anything
* Know care, feeding and first aid procedures for all kinds of gear
* Cycle through settings on the fly as conditions change
* Know enough optics and acoustics to capture the best shots and sounds possible

There is some “luck of the draw” in the layout, illumination and sound of a venue. Some places are great, right out of the gate; others might be a little challenging to get quality results. But we are blessed with many wonderful performance spaces nearby. Then a lot depends on some important setup questions for the house: Can we get a soundboard feed? Can we place some mikes over here, and a camera over here and there, where they can get a clear line of site most of the show? Will you get to do a full volume sound check? Will they mind if I use the ladder to strap a camera to the rafter, and tilt that light across that shadow on the stage? I will do pre-show recon on venues new to us, and talk with the event staff, if available. Multiple camera angles increase our chances of great shots. Experience helps us do well in nearly any conditions.

Once the best possible audio and video have been captured, the craft of editing comes into play. Bits of each camera’s footage will be unavailable due to image problems, media or battery swaps, obstructions in frame, etc. Much effort is put into syncing all the media to a single timeline, and optimizing sound balance and color correction. Then the art is to arrange the best bits into interesting viewing sequences, all arranged in perfect sync to the music performance. Creative titling is a specialty, as are audio mastering, special effects and custom DVD configurations.

Or if you want to do a live webcast we can arrange for a live switcher and data line to upload your show to your global audience.
